More than 13-hundred residential and business customers in southern Ohio will benefit from a recently announced investment of $3.8-million by Southern Ohio Communication Services, Inc. to provide high-speed internet service to rural areas.
The investment is being made in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development, and Pike County Economic & Community Development.
The company seeks to provide high-speed internet service to around 13-hundred customers over a 64 mile area in Pike and Scioto counties.
The project is expected to create at least five new jobs along with the construction of a new warehouse to store equipment.
Southern Ohio Communications Service has received a $50,000 JobsOhio Inclusion Grant toward the building and engineering costs.
