Two Taken to Hospital After Plane Crash in Fairfield County

Another plane crash was reported in the central Ohi region, Wednesday, this time in Fairfield County.

The Lancaster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that a single-engine two-seat Aeronca 11AC aircraft went down near the intersection of State Route 256 and State Route 37 in Fairfield County’s Liberty Township at around 9:30 a.m.

The plane is reported to have struck a storage building upon a landing attempt at a near by air strip.

The pilot, Matthew Leupp, and his passenger, Michael Bollinger, were taken to Mount Carmel East with non-life threatening injuries.

That makes four plane crashes in the central and southern Ohio areas over the past few weeks. A plane crash in Scioto County on May 28th claimed the lives of two Bellefontaine residents. Then on May 4th, another plane went down just west of Portsmouth. A passenger in that crash sustained minor injuries. Finally, last week, a third plane crash was reported in Franklin County's Worthington community. No injuries were reported in that crash.
