A young driver crashed his vehicle after a police chase in Waverly.
Police Chief John Winfield reports at 10:19pm Thursday, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on US 23 for improper registration, but the driver continued northbound. Just outside of the village he lost control and crashed in the 800 block of Howard Road.
Officers were able to get the occupants out of the vehicle with assistance from the Waverly Fire Department and Pike County Sheriff’s Office. The driver was a 16-year male, and the passenger identified as Olivia Star.
The male was transported to Adena Pike and later released to the Ross County Juvenile Detention Center. Star had outstanding warrants for her arrest out of the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.
