One Local Republican Primary Candidate in Limbo

The Ross County Republican Party hosted a "Meet the Candidates Night" Monday for their primary candidates. Kevin Coleman was there.

But one candidate is in limbo because of the rejected redistricting maps.

Tom Hwang lives in Pike County. If he lands in the 17th Ohio Senate District, that election is this year...sometime. Fayette County farmer Bob Peterson has been term-limited out of that office.

If Pike County is put into District 20 with Scioto County, Hwang says that election will probably be in 2024, since the current officeholder has two more years in his term.

In contrast, Hwang's possible opponent, 91st Ohio House District incumbent Shane Wilkin, is from Highland County. He believes the center of the district will remain the same, keeping him in the 17th.

Wilkin says he thinks the delayed part of the Ohio primary will probably be August 2nd.
