Pickaway County Sheriffs Deputies have a Circleville man in custody, that after he crashed a vehicle through the departments US 23 emergency access gate and demolished it on Tuesday. 36-year-old Christopher Tanner was identified via video camera surveillance. Tanner, after crashing into the gate in his blue Honda CRV, moved the gate and fled the scene. He later went to the Circleville Wal-Mart where he stole a woman's cell phone. He turned the phone into a EcoATM, and got money for the phone. Deputies were able to later locate Tanner at his last known address, where he admitted to the crimes. Tanner is currently being held in the Pickaway County Jail. The Sheriffs Department uses the access gate for emergency personnel, in emergency situations, only to get from the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office property to US Rte. 23.
