'Tis the Season to Beware of Deer on Roadways

Ohio's Department of Natural Resources is reminding Central Ohio drivers to be cautious of increased deer activity.

ODNR Wildlife Management Supervisor Brett Beatty says deer-related crashes increase in the fall as the animals are in their mating season. He recommends using high beams in order to more easily spot deer crossing roadways, and reducing speeds.

Beatty also notes that Ohio drivers who hit and kill a deer can eat it. He says law enforcement can provide a permit allowing the deer to be taken to a processor.
