Goodwill Makes it Easier to Donate in Ross County

(Goodwill Industries, Chillicothe) -- A new donation center is now open six days a week on East Second Street, about one-half block east of Crispie Crème Donuts.

Donors will turn into the lot and follow the signs to the drop-off where an employee will unload your donations without you having to leave your vehicle. You’ll receive a receipt, if you wish, that may be used for tracking your charitable tax deductions.

The center will be open weekdays 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 to noon. It will be closed on Sundays.

“We want to make donating to Goodwill, which has been serving the community for more than 40 years, as easy as possible,” said Marvin Jones, CEO.

“Donations will still be taken at each of our nine stores, including the one in Shawnee Square, but this attended donation center makes it more convenient, especially in times of inclement weather, and when you have heavier items such as furniture.”

Donations also may be dropped off at the box in front of Kroger’s on Western Avenue.

Goodwill Industries, a United Way of Ross County agency, employs 270 who work to improve the quality of life and job opportunities for those with disabilities and disadvantages in Ross, Pike, Pickaway, Fayette, Vinton, Jackson, Athens and Hocking counties.
