Unioto Finishes Off Gold Basketball With 68-46 Win Over Zane Trace

This group of Unioto Shermans didn't want to be the team to have the win streak stopped. This group wanted their names on a gold basketball. Friday night this edition of Sherman basketball put their names in the trophy case with a 14-0 gold basketball and did their part to run the Unioto SVC win streak to 55 in a row.

Unioto put together one of their patented runs to start the second half to help knock off the young, talented Zane Trace squad 68-46. The Shermans out scored ZT 24-13 in the third quarter to take control of the game.

The Shermans scorched the nets shooting over 60% from the field, from the 3 point line, and from the charity stripe. Unioto also showed their depth with Clay Edler and Tre Ivey scoring 15 points off the bench.

Payton Hill dropped in 15, Brandon Kennedy added 13, and Gavin Ogan notched 10 to lead the Sherman offense.

The Pioneers were led by freshman Nick Nesser's 12 points. Seven Zane Trace players scored as Coach Alan Koker often had four freshman on the floor at the same time. The Pioneers finish 7-7 in conference play.

Both teams head to tournament play next week. Zane Trace opens the Division three tourney play on Monday at 5:00 pm in Waverly. The Shermans play in Division 2 later in the week.
