Music of the Civil War Performance Comes to Frankfort UMC

Frankfort United Methodist Church will host a performance of Music of the Civil War with Steve & Lisa Ball on Saturday, March 4th.

Steve Ball is a musician from Columbus who specializes in the music of the American Civil War. Steve and his wife Lisa, who accompanies him on bass and vocals, will present a history lesson through music, featuring tunes reflecting the climate of the country prior to and during the Civil War. The history and influence of each tune is shared.

Steve plays authentic Civil War era guitars, all in their original cases.  The duo has performed at the Ohio Statehouse, the National Civil War Museum, the American Civil War Museum of Ohio, and countless historical societies, genealogical societies, libraries, museums, Civil War Round Tables, battle re-enactments and living history programs.  They have released two CD's of the music of the Civil War and are currently working on a CD of Stephen Foster tunes.  They also provide the music for the annual Springfield Ohio Civil War Symposium, and Steve is the narrator for the 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Civil War Brass Band.

The concert will begin at 4:00 p.m. at Frankfort United Methodist Church. It will also feature a spaghetti dinner with salad, bread, drinks, and homemade desserts.

Donations will be accepted for the concert and dinner.  Proceeds are to be used for a new furnace for the church.
