The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred at 2:36 pm, Thursday, on State Route 335.
A Jeep Grand Cherokee being driven by 40-year-old Suzanna D. Lewis, of Lucasville, was northbound on SR 335 when the driver drove left of center by several feet and struck a Buick Century head-on, driven by 82-year-old Mary J. Adams, of Minford. The Jeep overturned, coming to rest on its top in the middle of the roadway. Due to the impact of the crash, the Buick spun and slid off the right side of the roadway where it came to final rest.
Ms. Adams’ was extricated from her vehicle by mechanical means. Ms. Lewis was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center as well as her front seat passenger, and 12-year-old daughter, Nancy Lewis. Nancy was transported to Nationwide Children’s by ground from SOMC and listed in stable condition. A second passenger in Ms. Lewis’ vehicle, Madison Warren, was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital, also listed in stable condition. Ms. Adams was flown to St. Mary’s of Huntington where she is listed in critical condition.
Seat belts were not in use by any of the occupants of the Jeep. The crash remains under investigation to determine whether alcohol or drugs was a contributing factor. Minford Squad, Minford Fire Department, Clay 11 and Med Flight were on scene.
