The Ohio Supreme Court now says suspects caught with cocaine can be charged based on the weight of all of the drug seized, including filler material such as baking soda.
In a 5-2 decision, the high court reversed its earlier ruling that sentencing must be based on the amount of pure cocaine a suspects actually has. The ruling is related to a 2012 Wood County case.
State lawmakers are considering a bill that would clarify the language of the law.
