First iPhone Photograph Used for Horizon Directory Cover

Customers of Horizon Chillicothe Telephone soon will be receiving their official 2017 telephone directory highlighting the beautiful barn at historic Adena Mansion and Gardens.

For 46 years, Horizon has utilized the cover of its directory to highlight area artist’s photographs and artwork. This year, Jeremy Gillett, captured a beautiful photograph of the barn located on the grounds of Adena Mansion and Gardens. He was able to capture the beauty of the Thomas Worthington estate on a fall day, using an iPhone 6.

The barn in Mr. Gillett’s photograph is a reproduction of a 19th century bank barn that was a multi-function structure. The barn used the hillside to allow ground access on two levels. The first level housed the horses, sheep and tack room. The second level floor was used for threshing of the grain. This process would loosen the edible parts of the cereal grain from the chaff. This reproduction barn was built in the 1960’s and has been meticulously cared for over the years.

Nearly 30,000 phone books will be distributed to Horizon customers in Ross, Pickaway, Pike, Vinton, Jackson and Hocking counties. Again, this year, the U.S. Postal Service will handle deliveries. Horizon customers that use a post office box will find a notice in their box. These notices should be taken to their post office window to receive their directory.

Customers who have not received a directory by early April should contact Horizon’s business office at 740-772-8331.
