The Portsmouth Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on State Route 104 shortly after 9:00 a.m., Wednesday.
The crash took place approximately a quarter mile north of Crowe Hollow Road in Rush Township.
John Haimerl 66, of Darbyville, was driving a blue 2017 Kenworth log truck northbound on SR 104 when Donald Keeney, 57, of Lucasville, drove his southbound grey 1995 Buick across the center line and into the path of Haimerl's rig.
Keeney was pronounced dead at the scene by the Scioto County Coroner, Dr. Adams, and transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
Haimerl sustained minor injuries from the crash and was transported, by ambulance, to Southern Ohio Medical Center.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Rush, Morgan, Washington V.F.D., Scioto Squad 2, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
Drug and or Alcohol impairment is believed to be factor in the cause of the crash.
