A 20th Anniversary salute to the Ohio University-Chillicothe Theatre Program will take place this Wednesday, March 15th at OU-C's Bennett Hall Auditorium.
Theater Director, Dr. Lance Mekeel, who took over the program in 2015 its founder, Fine Arts Professor Ken Breidenbaugh, says the program Wednesday evening includes a performance of various scenes from past productions.
"We're doing sort of a tribute to the program. We're having scenes from past shows performed and we'll have live music provided by the local band, The Greater Goods. That will be followed by a reception in the Patricia Scott Gallery with light refreshments and wine. It's a chance for people to come together and celebrate the success of the program," said Mekeel.
Mekeel says the continued success of the theatre program is due largely in part to the support and unending enthusiasm shown by current and past students.
"What I've found is that the students are just so committed to making theatre happen, and I've really enjoyed getting to work with that enthusiasm. Even though many students are not always theatre majors or even minors in many cases, they're just very excited to do theatre, it's just a passion," said Mekeel.
The 20th Anniversary salute to the OU-C Theatre Program gets underway at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday.
