Fayette Courthouse Tower Clock Set for Restoration

Restoration of the Fayette County Courthouse’s tower clock is moving forward now that the county commissioners have hired a contractor to complete the work.

The commissioners have accepted a proposal by the South Charleston based Tower Clock Company to complete the project for $56,000. A recent inspection revealed the clock is in need of several substantial repairs.

The clock was originally built by famous 19th Century clock maker, Seth Thomas. It's been in operation since the late 1800s. The courthouse is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
