A couple of Chillicothe men were treated at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Three Locks Road, Wednesday.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Michael R. Echard, 48, was traveling westbound on Three Locks, near Toad Hollow, shortly before 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, when he traveled left of center while navigating a curve and collided with an eastbound tractor-trailer operated by Wesley A. Ratcliff, 48.
Echard's vehicle also struck a guardrail and a utility pole. The force of the impact caused the pole to collapse sending the live power lines to ground and across the Toad Hollow and Three Locks roadways. The lines also landed on a small section of Norfolk and Southern railroad tracks. The intersection was closed for around five hours while repairs were made.
Both Echard and Ratcliff were treated at the scene by Scioto Township EMS. Scioto Township, the Ross County Engineers Office, AEP, and Norfolk and Southern Railroad assisted at the scene.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
