Petland Establishes New Charity Organization

Petland, Inc. is kicking off their new charitable giving organization, Petland Charities, at their flagship store in Chillicothe. The organization will focus on raising funds for the Ross County Humane Society and the local K9 unit.

“Petland deeply cares for the Chillicothe community, so it made sense to start this new initiative here,” said Joe Watson, president and CEO of Petland, Inc.

Petland will invite Chillicothe customers to make a donation throughout the year and will donate these funds to the Ross County Humane Society or the regional K9 unit. Petland Charities also will match customer donations up to $3,000 per year.

“We want to give these non-profits as much help as possible,” said Edwin Sayres, executive director for Petland Charities. ““The work these organizations do for our community is invaluable and as animal lovers we want to support that.”

Petland will continue other corporate charitable giving. Some of these efforts include promoting the adoption of homeless pets, granting children’s pet-related wishes via the Make-A-Wish Foundation®, donating to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital®, paying for the training of service dogs for disabled veterans, donating food to K9 units and providing grants to teachers to purchase pets and pet supplies for the classroom.

“Petland has been giving back since the company was founded, so Petland Charities is simply an extension of our current work,” Watson said. “We take our role in the community very seriously and are excited to see the positive impact this new endeavor will have.”

Petland Charities and the campaigns to raise funds for local shelters and K9 units will be introduced to the corporate stores in phases. The other stores that will be participating are in Cicero, NY; Athens; Dayton; Gallipolis; Grove City; Heath; Hilliard; Lancaster; Washington Court House; and Monroeville, PA.
