Large item pick-up begins this week in Chillicothe. City crews started making their way through neighborhoods today. The program will run for 5 weeks. Item collection corresponds to a neighborhood's trash collection day.
If your garbage is collected on:
Monday – pick up is June 5th – June 9th
Tuesday – pick up is June 12th – June 16th
Wednesday – pick up is June 19th – June 23rd
Thursday – pick up is June 26th – June 30th
Friday – pick up is July 3rd – July 7th
Items crews will pick up include: carpet, sofas, chairs, mattresses, and other similar pieces of furniture. Paint cans will be collected as long as the paint has been dried out or mixed with sawdust.
Items not permissible include: stoves, washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, hot water tanks, heaters, radios, computer equipment, air conditioning units, and televisions. Construction materials from demolitions or remodeling will not be collected, nor will tires, batteries, chemicals and hazardous materials.
Large items must be kept separate from regular trash pick-up and should be placed at the curb. There will be no pick-ups in alleys and Service Department employees are not permitted on private property.
Residents are asked to place their items at the curb on the Sunday night before their assigned week.
