Ohio Man Among Sailors Lost in Saturday Collision

A northeast Ohio Navy man was among those killed in a collision over the weekend.

An Elyria family is in mourning today after one of the 7 sailors who died over the weekend was identified.

37-year-old Fire Controlman First Class, Gary Leo Rehm, was on board the USS Fitzgerald Saturday morning when the navy destroyer collided with a container ship off the coast of Japan.

The collision took place in one of the world's busiest waterways. Most of the sailors on board were asleep at the time. At least three other crew members, including the captain, were hurt.
