(Cincinnati, OH) -- The Nationals took a 10-run lead in the seventh inning and held off a furious rally to top the Reds 10-7 in Cincinnati.
Anthony Rendon's grand slam capped off a seven-run seventh. Rendon also launched a two-run bomb in the fourth and finished 3-for-3 with six RBI. Max Scherzer struck out 10 over six frames as Washington improved to 54-and-36.
Scooter Gennett drove in four-runs over the final two innings but the Cincy comeback fell short. Michael Lorenzen surrendered six runs while recording only one out in relief of Luis Castillo who took the loss.
Reds manager Bryan Price says they were able to make Scherzer work early but couldn't capitalize.
(Oakland, CA) -- Khris Davis belted the walk-off, two-run homer as the A's folded the Indians, 5-3, in Oakland.
Matt Chapman had a pair of solo shots for the A's, who are a win away from the sweep. Ryan Madson earned the win with an inning of scoreless relief. Oakland improved to 41-and-50.
Corey Kluber struck out 12 over seven-and-a-third innings of three-run ball for the Tribe. Andrew Miller was charged with the loss. Edwin Encarnacion launched a homer in defeat. The Indians are 47-and-42.
