Chillicothe Man Indicted for July Stand-Off

A Chillicothe man was indicted Friday by the Ross County Grand Jury for an armed stand-off with police in early July.

Lucas Jackson, 28, faces a 5th degree felony charge of Unlawful Possession of a Dangerous Ordinance and a 1st degree misdemeanor charge of Inducing Panic.

The indictment stems from a July 3rd incident where Chillicothe police were called to 447 Church Street after Jackson was reported coming out of the home with an AK-47, 3 pistols in his waistband, and a bottle of whiskey.

The building was partly evacuated as were nearby houses, while Jackson remained upstairs and refused to come out. The incident took place around 9:30 a.m. A Highway Patrol negotiator talked him into surrendering shortly before noon. There were no reports of gunfire. Officers recovered numerous guns from the residence including a sawed-off shotgun.

If convicted on the felony charge of Unlawful Possession, in regard to the sawed-off shotgun, Jackson could be sentenced to up to 12 months behind bars and ordered to pay a $2500 fine. The misdemeanor charge of Inducing Panic carries a $1000 fine and a sentence of up to 6 months.
