(Dayton) -- In a Facebook post on Thursday, Chillicothe Mayor Luke Feeney endorsed Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley for Governor of Ohio.
Earlier in the week, Whaley was in Chillicothe for a meet-and-greet, connecting with Ohioans about the top issues facing the state.
“It was great to have Mayor Nan Whaley in Chillicothe this week,” said Feeney in the social media post. “I'm proud to endorse her for Governor because her work ethic is second to none and we need a governor who will partner with cities for a better future.”
Chillicothe, like many Ohio cities, has been hit hard by the state legislature’s cuts to local communities. Despite annual cuts of over $1 million from Chillicothe’s budget, Feeney has increased first responders on the job and executed key infrastructure projects, like road paving.
“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Mayor Feeney,” said Whaley. “Just like so many local leaders around this state, Mayor Feeney has had to do more with less to keep Chillicothe running. That’s because, at the local level, we can’t look away from our communities’ challenges.
"Cities are where the rubber meets the road, and it’s where we get it done. When I’m elected Governor, I look forward to working boldly with our local leaders to move our state forward.”
