Cleanup of WWI Bombshells in Planning Stages

Bombshells from a century ago are currently the focus of government work in southern Ross County.

The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is looking into World War I shells, fired in what is now Scioto Trails State Forest and Park, when it was the artillery practice field for Camp Sherman.

They're looking for private owners who are willing to be part of a preliminary field survey that includes state land to plan a cleanup effort two years from now. The area they're looking into is generally along Stoney Creek Road, from Caldwell Lake to Airport Road.
