Local Livestock Farm Hosts Summer Tour Series, Farm To Table Dinner & Movie

Interest in local food continues to skyrocket nationwide, and more and more consumers are seeking out fresh, wholesome, healthy food options for themselves and their families. One of the farms leading the charge in Ohio is Pastured Providence Farmstead, a pasture-based livestock operation raising grass-fed beef & lamb, pastured pork, free-range chicken & turkey, and non-GMO pastured eggs.

Part of Pastured Providence Farmstead’s success in direct marketing their product is a result of their willingness to welcome the general public into their farming world. “Transparency is generally lacking in agriculture these days.”, says Paul Dorrance, who co-owns and operates the farm. “We don’t have anything to hide, and welcome the chance to show our customers how we raise their food.”

Farm tours are one way to see what Pastured Providence Farmstead is all about, and are hosted on scheduled Saturdays throughout the summer. This year’s tour dates are August 12, September 9, and October 14, all from 2PM until 4PM. RSVPs are requested, and both tour updates and contact information are available on the farm’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/pasturedprovidence

In addition to showcasing their own production methods, Paul and his wife Heather also want to highlight other local food options. “Good food deserves to be in the spotlight”, explains Heather, “and our Farm To Table Dinner & Movie is a great way to support other local farms and businesses”. This event features local breweries and wineries at the cash bar, sustainably raised meat and organic vegetables sourced from local farms, and an outdoor showing of an award winning food documentary… all for only $50 per ticket.

“Local food is huge right now, and our Farmstead is right in the middle of that movement.”, says Paul. “This dinner showcases some of the best local, healthy, organic, and chemical-free food options available in this area, and I hope folks will make plans to join us on the farm for an evening of great food, music, and entertainment.”

This year’s Farm To Table Dinner & Movie will take place on Saturday, October 21. Happy hour starts at 4:30PM with appetizers and musical entertainment, dinner will be served at 5:30PM, and the movie will start at 6:45PM. Tickets are $50, and can be purchased online at www.pasturedprovidence.com or by calling 740-851-3883.
