Arrest Warrant Leads to Discovery of Drug Activity

A Ross County arrest warrant led to discovery of drug activity Saturday.

Sheriff George Lavender reports his office was conducting a warrant sweep with the U.S. Marshal’s Office when they entered a residence at 55 Blain Highway of 36-year-old Trevor Stoops, who was taken into custody on a warrant out of Pike County.

The team discovered evidence of drug trafficking, so the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force was called to the scene and secured a search warrant.  Investigators from Ross and Pickaway Counties discovered about 235 grams of methamphetamine; about 2 grams of heroin; and prescription drugs, cash, and evidence of drug trafficking. Further charges will be filed at the completion of the investigation.

Sheriff Lavender thank his deputies, the Marshal’s Office, and the U.S. 23 Major Crimes Task Force for the long hours worked the last two days that made the warrant sweep a success.

He reports full details will be released Monday.
