(Cincinnati) --Secretary of Energy Rick Perry announced he would be unable to visit the Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant and the American Centrifuge Project facility near Piketon Monday.
U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) released a statement after Perry announced the delay because of a Cabinet meeting in Washington, saying his visit to the region will be rescheduled soon.
“While I'm disappointed that Secretary Perry cannot make it to Piketon on Monday I'm pleased he has indicated that he will reschedule the visit soon,” said Senator Portman.
“I look forward to showcasing the important work being done there, their importance to the local economy, and the potential for economic development in the future. I'm also excited to show Secretary Perry the infrastructure in place at the American Centrifuge Project plant should the Administration restart a domestic uranium enrichment program.”
Secretary Perry said, "unfortunately, due to a last minute Cabinet meeting in Washington on Monday I am no longer able to join Senator Portman, Congressman Wenstrup and Congressman Johnson in Ohio.”
“I would like to thank Senator Portman for his invitation to host me and I look forward to visiting the Portsmouth facility soon.”
