Public Input Sought for Washington CH Parade Theme

The Annual Christmas Parade is scheduled for Sunday November 26th and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce is looking for input from the community for a theme.

Residents have until August 24th to submit their ideas on the organization’s website at www.fayettecountyohio.com. The committee will then select a theme from the nominations and announce the winner in early September. The person who suggests the winning theme will receive a $50 Visa card from the Chamber of Commerce.

“The parade really kicks off the holiday season in Fayette County. It’s the Sunday after Thanksgiving - everyone has eaten their fill and done their Black Friday and Small Business Saturday Shopping – the 26th will be a day to come downtown to enjoy some of the pre-parade activities, visit with Santa, maybe take a carriage ride around town and spend time with family and friends to enjoy the parade,” said Chamber President Whitney Gentry. “It’s a true community event so it only makes sense to include the community to help find a theme.”

Last year’s parade theme was “Miracle on Court Street” and the event had over 70 entries. Gentry expects this year to be the same.

“There is no cost to have an entry in the parade. We traditionally have outstanding participation from our local churches, organizations, businesses and first responders.”

Parade applications will be available after the theme has been announced. For more information about the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce or the Christmas Parade, call 740-335-0761.
