The Chillicothe VA Medical Center is under new leadership.
The Department of Veterans Affairs announced Monday the appointment of Mark Murdock as the new director of the Chillicothe VA, where he will oversee delivery of health care to more than 21,000 Veterans and an operating budget of $200 - $250 million.
“We are excited to bring Mr. Murdock on board as the new director of the Chillicothe VA Medical Center,” said Mr. Robert McDivitt, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 10 Director. “His sound leadership qualities and proven experience will be valuable assets for the facility, the employees and volunteers, and most importantly, for the Veterans we are honored to serve.”
Murdock was appointed the Acting Medical Center Director at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center on January 2nd this year, previously serving as Associate Director of the VA Medical Center in Dayton. He is a native of Sackets Harbor, New York and is a graduate of Park University with a B.S. in Healthcare Management and holds a Master's Degree in Health Service Administration from Xavier University.
His VA career has included assignments as Health System Specialist, Surgical Service at the VAMC Dayton; and as the Program Manager, VISN 10/11 Tele-Nurse Triage Program in Dayton. Before coming to the VA, following retirement from active duty, he worked for private sector companies and government contractors in the healthcare industry. Murdock retired as a Medical Service Corp (MSC) Officer from the United States Air Force in 1999. During his Air Force career, Murdock was assigned to Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Charleston AFB in South Carolina, Misawa AB in Japan, and Aviano AB in Italy.
Murdock is board certified in healthcare administration by the American College of Healthcare Executives in which he holds membership as a Fellow, and is a member of the Greater Ohio Healthcare Leaders Forum as well as a graduate of the 2012 VHA Healthcare Leadership Institute.
