Columbus Plane Makes Emergency Landing

A plane leaving Columbus had to turn back after a chunk of its tire fell off the landing gear.

WBNS says the Southwest flight carrying 127 people made a safe emergency landing Saturday afternoon.  Multiple fire trucks were called out to the tarmac at John Glenn Columbus International Airport and remained on the scene after the plane landed.

An airport official says the plane to Florida took off successfully, but tire remnants were found on the runway and the plane was called back out of an abundance of caution.
