The topic of curbside recycling had a warm reception in a Chillicothe Council review session Monday evening.
Mayor Luke Feeney gave a half-hour talk, before several of about 15 in the audience spoke in favor.
The District Coordinator of the Ross-Pickaway-Highland-Fayette Solid Waste District, Tom Davis, said more than 80% of the startup costs of the city should be covered by grants - including recycling carts, and a new modified trash truck.
He said this will help with the Ohio EPA mandate to reduce the solid waste stream, better than the current drop-off bins...which attract trash with the recyclables, as well as outside the bins.
Davis agreed, this winter or spring is the most likely time for curbside recycling in Chillicothe to start up, after the truck is delivered.
