For the first time since 1988, the Huntington Huntsmen Volleyball team has won at Adena. Huntington made their mark in a big way in the SVC season opener, Tuesday night. The Huntsmen won the match 25-20, 25-23, 12-25, 25-20.
The "ladies in green" took leads of several points in each set, accept Set 3, which the Warriors won handily. Adena fought back from big deficits in Sets 1, 2 and 4, but Huntington stepped on the gas with big plays throughout the match.
The Huntsmen were led by Braiden Collins with 9 kills and 33 digs, while Riley Black and Gus Hooks each with 8 kills. Adena was led by Lanie Shea with 14 kills, with Kelsie Bossert and Abby Stark each with 10. Bossert also had 19 digs.
Elsewhere in SVC play:Unioto swept Piketon (3-0) 25-18, 25-17, 25-15. Southeastern (3-0) did likewise to Paint Valley 25-9, 25-10, 25-7. Zane Trace defeated in four sets, 25-23, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16.
