New Hours at Pickaway County Library

Starting Tuesday, September 5th, The Pickaway County Library will offer new hours at both library locations. The new hours offer a consistent opening time of 10 a.m. Monday through Saturday as well as a one-hour-later closing time on Fridays and Saturdays. Sunday hours will continue to run from Labor Day until Memorial Day.

Library hours were changed in 2010 due to state budget cuts. While those cuts are still in place, the library made looking for ways to update the hours without increasing operating costs a priority over the past year. “The consistent opening time is a change our patrons have been asking for, and I am thrilled that we are going to be able to make this change for our patrons,” states Library Director David Fausnaugh.

“We looked at workflows and made some changes that allow us to be open a little longer without increasing the size of our staff. This change is going to make it more convenient for the community to use our services and easier for us to meet the needs of our patrons,” Fausnaugh says.

In addition to circulating over 400,000 items a year, the library offers technology classes, public meeting rooms, movie showings, and programming for both adults and children at no charge. The mission of the Pickaway County Library is to provide information and services to engage, educate, entertain and enrich Pickaway County.
