A Ross County Jail inmate is in a Columbus hospital after he was severely beaten while he was serving a misdemeanor sentence. Ross County Sheriff Captain Mike Preston confirmed they are investigating an incident from October 2nd, where 42-year-old Steven Tyler was injured in his cell, the victim of an apparent beating.
Captain Preston says they are investigating claims that Tyler was beaten by three other inmates. Tyler was in the first day of a 27-day jail sentence for parole violation on a domestic violence conviction.
The mother of Steven Tyler, told iHeart News that her son suffered facial fractures, including a broken nose and underwent surgery to have a plate put in his neck. He is currently in Grant Hospital.
