SVC Volleyball Sends 7 Teams to District Tournament

The SVC showed why it is still considered as the most dominate high school volleyball conferences in southern Ohio, as 7 of their 8 schools won sectional championships Saturday. Paint Valley was the lone outsider, although they were a Division 4 runner-up Thursday to a tough Portsmouth Notre Dame squad.

Saturday's winners included SVC Champ Unioto beating Warren for the Division 2 championship, (25-17, 25-17, 27-25, 25-18). The Shermans will face Sheridan at 6pm Wednesday in the district semis at Southeastern High School. Sheridan advanced with a five-set thriller over Circleville. The Unioto vs Sheridan match will be broadcast on 94 Country WKKJ, with airtime at 5:45pm.

Six SVC teams landed Division 3 Sectional Championships. Southeastern crushed Meigs (25-5, 25-15, 25-8). The Panthers will now advance to the Waverly District Semis on Wednesday at 6pm, against Fairland, who outlasted Chesapeake in five sets. Huntington plays the nightcap on Wednesday against Portsmouth. The Huntsmen swept past Valley (25-10, 25-14, 25-21) while the Trojans topped South Point  (25-9, 25-15, 25-12).

Piketon drilled Northwest (25-10, 25-13, 25-14) and will meet SVC foe Zane Trace, Tuesday night in the Waverly District Semi. The Pioneers won in four sets against Nelsonville-York (30-28, 22-25, 25-10, 25-23). Their Tuesday match is the second to be played, approximately 7:30pm. 94 Country WKKJ will broadcast with airtime around 7:15pm.

Adena swept Lynchburg Clay (25-12, 25-5, 25-6), to advance to Thursday's Waverly Semi at 6pm, against Westfall. The Mustangs swept Crooksville  (25-16, 25-23, 25-18). The Adena-Westfall match will be heard on 94 Country WKKJ with airtime at 5:45pm.
