Piketon Volleyball Sweeps to District Final

Piketon's Volleyball Redstreaks swept Zane Trace for a third time this season, advancing to the Division 3 District Final on Saturday, with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-22 win at Waverly High School. The Redstreaks will match up with Wheelersburg at 2pm Saturday, as the Pirates defeated North Adams (25-21, 25-18, 21-25, 25-19).

All District selections Cami Chandler and Jordan Morris were up to their usual play, leading Piketon on the front and back  rows. Chandler, who is the D-3 District Coaches Association "Player of the Year", had 17 kills to go with her 26 digs. Second Team All District Jordan Morris had 22 kills and 19 digs. Libero Grace Lightle added 16 digs.

Zane Trace was led by Third Team All District Hannah Unger's 12 kills and 11 digs. Evie Bennett added 8 kills and 15 digs, while Maddie Rann had 5 kills and 15 digs.

Piketon improves to (18-6) on the season, as Zane Trace closes their season with a sectional title at (9-15). In the post-game interview on WKKJ, Pioneers Coach Cyndi Davis says they have "no seniors on their team, and should be interesting to watch next season".

Redstreaks Coach Allison Robbins reflected on last year's heartbreaking five-set district final loss to Huntington, and says she believes this year is the one they will break-through to the Sweet 16.
