The Southeastern Panthers put an exclamation point on their SVC Championship season with a 48-12 win at Westfall. The Panthers (10-0) record is a school record, as is their SVC Gold Football at (7-0) in the conference.
The final score was not an indication of how close the game was in the first half. The Mustangs had leads of 6-0 and 12-7, and only trailed 14-12 at half, but the Panthers opened the throttle in the last two quarters by outscoring Westfall 34-0.
Southeastern had 396 total yards, with 374 rushing. Carson Stauffer rushed for a game-high 178 yards on 22 carries, scoring four touchdowns. Dakota Houser had 76 yards on 14 carries, scoring twice, and quarterback Lane Ruby ran for 87 yards on 13 carries, scoring one TD.
The Panthers lone problem was penalties, committing 10 for 100 yards. But, they had no turnovers.
Westfall had 279 total yards, with good balance between the running and passing game. Quarterback Zach Gibson connected on 14/23 passes for 117 yards and ran for 117 on 14 carries. He threw for one TD and ran for another. The Mustangs ran for 162 yards, with Seth Spellman rushing for 69 yards on 15 carries. The biggest negative for Westfall's offense was five turnovers.
Southeastern will take their perfect (10-0) record to the playoffs next Friday night, most likely a home game. OHSAA seeds will be be officially released Sunday afternoon.
Westfall concludes their season at (2-5/3-7), but are young and could be a contender next fall.
