John Wend, longtime voice of Chillicothe Paints Baseball and other events at VA Memorial Stadium and at McClain High School, has died. Wend was 74.
Wend had battled health problems the last few years.
Many recognized Wend’s iconic voice at Paints games since 1993, but his baritone resonated for McClain Tiger fans for nearly 40 years.
Wend, an avid sports fan, was an athlete during his youth in Nelsonville, Ohio. He also coached in the Greenfield Exempted School District and worked for the Greenfield newspaper before working fulltime with the Paints as Director of Game Day Operations and Public Address Announcer.
