Tuesday Chillicothe Fire Brings Bad Memories

Fire engines ring the Carlisle Building as a precaution from a fire nearby, Tuesday night. 

People seeing fire engines ringing around the Carlisle Building Tuesday night might have had a sinking feeling in their stomach when they came upon the scene, but a fire at 23 South Paint Street was quickly controlled and caused no damage to the recently renovated historic building.

The fire was reminiscent of the Carlisle Building Fire in 2003.

Chillicothe Fire Chief Jeff Creed says the building involved was 2-3 buildings south of the Carlisle. Charley's Flowers, and The Art of Hair suffered a little water damage from firefighting activities, but no smoke or fire damage from the fire which was reported at 7:24pm. Firefighters were clearing the scene by 9pm.

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Chillicothe Fire Chief Jeff Creed says the origin of Tuesday night’s fire at 23 South Paint Street is “suspicious.” The department's investigation continues.
