Two men died of gunshots south of New Vienna Friday morning...with at least one involved in an attempted robbery.
Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera told the Hillsboro Times-Gazette that one of the two elderly occupants of a home on Powell Road west of State Route 73 fatally shot the armed man after he allegedly broke in around 7am Friday.
But Barrera said another man was found dead in a vehicle down the road, apparently from a gunshot wound - and said both were apparently together before the incident.
The vehicle had been reported in Lynchburg after it appeared to be involved in suspicious activity.
The scene was cleared about 3pm, and an official statement has not yet been released.
