Paint Valley led Zane Trace 19-16 at halftime only to see the Pioneers explode on a 25-8 third quarter run, en-route to a 56-43 SVC win.
ZT held the Bearcats scoreless until 3:24 of the third quarter and were up 41-27 after three frames. Sophomore guard Cameron Evans lit-up the nets in that quarter and went on to lead the Pioneers with 21 points for the game. Senior post-player Isaac Beam added 14 points and Gabe O'Dell had 10.
Paint Valley's 6'11 Duquense University-bound senior Dylan Swingle led the Bearcats with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocked shots, despite the fact that he has been ill the last week, according to Coach Dave Shoemaker.
Junior guard Caden Grubb added 11 points for Paint Valley.
Zane Trace's hot shooting hand showed up in the stats, going 25/43 for 58%- including 3/11 from the arc. They were also 3/9 from the charity stripe and won the rebounding battle 23-13.
Paint Valley shot 18/41 for 44%- including 2/7 from the arc. They were 5/8 at the foul line.
Both teams committed 9 turnovers, each.
Zane Trace improves to (1-1/2-2) while Paint Valley dropped to (0-2/2-3).
