Possible "Horseplay" Leads to Shooting

Chillicothe Police are investigating a shooting in the parking lot of Walmart Tuesday night, that security cameras and eyewitnesses indicate was caused when two males were involved in horseplay.

Police were called to the Adena Regional Medical Center E.R. Tuesday night in reference to a person that had been shot in the left hand and left leg.

19-year-old Jamichael Beard denied knowing who had shot him, but stated that the incident happened in Walmart parking lot approximately 30 minutes before the officers arrival at the hospital.

Beard advised that he had been walking out of Walmart when an unknown biracial male shot him. He stated that after the shooting, the suspect got into a silver car.

Walmart surveillance cameras showed and a few eyewitnesses claim that Beard and Jayzell Howard were "shadow boxing" with each other, when Howard then shot Beard. The eyewitnesses says it occurred as the two were "playing around".

Jayzell Howard has been charged with felonious assault and taken to the juvenile detention center.

Beard was later transported by EMS to Grant Medical Center.
