Several Dead, Injured in Amtrak Train Derailment

Authorities have confirmed several deaths and injuries after an Amtrak train derailed in Washington state and nosedived from an overpass onto vehicles below.  

The train was southbound on an inaugural run from Seattle to Portland, Oregon.  The derailment happened outside Olympia, Washington. There were about 70 to 75 people on board.  

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office tweeted that several motorists were injured after train cars fell onto the southbound lanes of busy Interstate 5 near Olympia.  No motorists were reported killed.
