Chillicothe City Council has approved a resolution opposing the construction of a specially designed disposal site for demolished building material waste at the former Piketon A-Plant.
The non-binding resolution has been the center of several well-attended city council meetings, where both sides of the issue expressed their findings and opinions.
Other communities in southern Ohio have been asked by activists against the dump site to take the similar action.
The proposal at the former uranium enrichment plant is to demolish old buildings at the site and bury them in a specially designed containment area.
None of the spent uranium would be buried there.
