The deep freeze continued Friday, causing most area schools to close for the day. Union Scioto Schools (Unioto) was the lone district to brave the cold, going to class with a two-hour delay. Area college campuses were also open.
All other schools in Ross, Pickaway, Pike and Fayette counties were closed as temperatures hovered around zero, the wind chill went into the sub-zero range. A wind chill advisory was in place until 11am Friday. More cold weather is forecast for Friday night, with actual temperatures forecast to hit a low of minus-2.
There might be some relief in site, with warmer temperatures forecast for next week, beginning with a high of 30 on Sunday. That could bring with it the possibility of freezing drizzle and snow Sunday night and Monday morning, before temps increase to the mid-to-upper 40's by the middle of next week.
