A number of area counties do not have an NAACP chapter, so Ross County is inviting those communities to participate in their annual event.
The Ross County NAACP will observe their Annual Jubilee & Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Day on Sunday, January 14th at 3pm at the Church of Deliverance, 393 High N High St, Chillicothe. The speaker for this event will be Reverend Jeremy Beverly, Pastor of the Church of Deliverance. Jubilee Day celebrates the freeing of American slaves during the Civil War when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.
The public is invited to join us in this joyous occasion. On Monday, January 15th, WIN (Women In the NAACP) will sponsor their annual MLK Jr. Breakfast & Panel Discussion at 10am at the First Baptist Church, 65 West 4th Street in Chillicothe. This year's panel discussion will focus on the outlook for this generation given the Opiate addiction.
This event is also open to the public and a donation will be accepted for the breakfast. If you have any questions please direct them to local President of the Ross County NAACP, Mrs. Adrienne L. D'Souza, at 740-466-5280.
