Zane Trace stayed with one game of SVC leader Unioto as they played four solid quarters Friday in their 66-39 win over Paint Valley.
The Pioneers full-court pressure created 6 first quarter turnovers as they broke away from a 6-6 game and led at the end of every stop. ZT led 12-6 after one quarter, 33-18 at half, and 57-30 after three. Paint Valley committed 16 turnovers compared to only 6 for Zane Trace.
The Pioneers shot 56% for the game on 29/52 from the field- including 2/5 from the arc. The second quarter was a 75% shooting period which enabled ZT to pull away. They added 6/10 from the foul line for the contest and won the rebounding battle 26-20.
Paint Valley was checked on 18/48 from the field for 38%- including 2/3 from the arc. The Bearcats shot only two free throws in the game, making one.
Eight Zane Trace players got into the scoring column- led by Isaac Beam's 20 points and 8 rebounds. Gabe O'Dell added 10 points- including three of the Pioneers four (two-hand slam dunks) on the night. Nick Nesser had the other. Cameron Evans had 9 points, while Triton Davidson, Luke Johnson and Jeremy Lambert each added 6 points.
Paint Valley's Dylan Swingle led all players with 26 points and 11 rebounds to go along with 3 blocked shots.
