Road Work Resumes this Weekend on Columbus' South Side

ODOT reports they will take advantage of the spring-like weather this weekend to make permanent repairs in more locations on the "South Side Mega Fix" project.

Friday, the work will be focused on the northbound lanes between Stringtown Road and Greenlawn Avenue using asphalt instead of 'cold mix' since it's more reliable.

On Sunday, the emergency pavement repairs will focus on the southbound lanes with some work on the left lane of northbound 71.

Here's how traffic will be impacted:

  • 7 AM Sunday, January 28: I-71 SB will be reduced to two lanes between Greenlawn Avenue and Stringtown Road. The far right lane will be closed. The ramp from I-270 WB to I-71 SB will also close. Detour: Continue WB on I-270 to US 62 to I-270 EB to I-71 SB.
  • After repairs are made to the far right lane of 71 SB, it will be opened, and crews will close the far left lane of I-71 SB. After the left lane is closed, the ramp from I-270 WB to I-71 SB will open.
  • Once all repairs are made to SB I-71, crews will close the far left lane on I-71 NB between Stringtown Road and Greenlawn Ave.
  • 5 AM Monday, January 29: All ramps and lanes open on I-71 NB and SB.
