Shermans Sizzle in Win Over Piketon


Unioto stays perfect in the SVC at (9-0) while also winning their 64th straight conference basketball game in their 76-53 win vs Piketon.

After an early Piketon lead of 6-4, the Shermans finished on a 16-0 run for a 20-6 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Redstreaks started the second period on a 9-0 run, cutting the margin to 20-15 before the Tanks ran that lead to 38-23 at halftime. Piketon was only able to get within 11 points, but no closer.

Unioto dominated the stat sheet, shooting 32/50 for 64%- including 5/12 from the arc. Piketon was held to 39% from the floor at 22/57- including 3/13 at the arc. The Tanks controlled the glass with a 30-17 rebounding advantage. Unioto's only weak stat was the charity stripe, at 7/15 for just 47%. Piketon was 6/11. Unioto forced 14 Piketon turnovers, but Unioto also had 12.

Five Shermans were in double figures, with Logan Swackhammer leading way with 25 points. Gabe Fisher and Peyton Hill each scored 12, Chance Smith 11 and Brandon Kennedy with 10. Fisher also had 13 rebounds.

Piketon was led by Tanner Perdue's 28 points, while Blake Reader added 10.  

Unioto improves to (9-0/12-1) and Piketon falls to (5-4/9-5).
