If you either work in, or are just headed to Columbus for a little fun this weekend, you may want to take note of a pretty significant road closure that will be in effect.
ODOT says, beginning Friday evening, the east and westbound lanes of Interstate 70, between State Route 315 and I-71, will close for demolition of the Grant Ave. Bridge.
This weekend's closure will have I-70 eastbound closed until Sunday morning, with I-70 westbound opening on Saturday morning.
The bridge is expected to be reduced to just the steel beams by Sunday morning, with the beams being removed during overnight closures within the next few weeks.
The new Grant Ave. Bridge is expected to open in roughly nine months. The project is one in a series of ODOT projects aimed at improving the I-70/71 corridor through downtown Columbus.
