The Ross County Sheriff reports that an 8-year-old boy drowned Thursday afternoon while trying to cross a creek near his home in the 1600 block of Trego Creek Road.
Swift currents are blamed for his being caught in the water. Family members discovered his body. He was taken to Adena Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Sheriff George Lavender reminds residents “to use caution around any waterways in the area as the recent amounts of heavy rain have turned small creeks and streams into fast-moving waterways.”
